Vasily Gerasimov took part in a meeting on rural development and increasing the efficiency of the agricultural sector

On 16 April 2024, Chairman of the State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov took part in the meeting on rural development and improving the efficiency of the agricultural sector held by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

The current meeting, the Head of State noted, is a logical extension of the practice of objective and systematic analysis of the state of affairs in specific sectors of the economy. This time the agenda includes the issues of developing the agricultural sector, improving its efficiency and increasing its contribution to the total national income.

"The welfare of our people, foreign exchange earnings, the level of food security and ultimately the socio-political stability in the country largely depend on the state of affairs in the countryside. People must first of all be fed, clothed - in a word, live normally. Then there will be socio-economic stability. Agriculture contributes a lot to this," Alexander Lukashenko emphasised. - In general, agrarians have a lot to be proud of. Belarus is fully self-sufficient in basic foodstuffs. It significantly surpasses other CIS countries in terms of production of such products and per capita consumption," Alexander Lukashenko said.

Vasily Gerasimov, Chairman of the State Control Committee, dwelt in detail on the fulfilment of the President's orders on agricultural issues.
