In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus, organisations of the Ministry of Forestry have the right to sell business timber to individuals at preferential prices. The obligatory condition for the sale of timber is its use for personal purposes for the construction or repair of houses and outbuildings.
More than 6.5 thousand citizens have already exercised this right.
In the course of checking the intended use of the purchased timber, the State Control Committee examined the situation in 4,500 households.
Single facts of misuse of timber were found, for which measures were taken to compensate the cost threefold. For example, in Bobruisk and Kobrinsk forestry farms citizens purchased business timber for construction of a residential house and repair of an outbuilding, but in fact they did not use the timber for personal purposes, but gave it to their relatives.
