The Day of State Control Bodies Workers has been established in Belarus

The Day of State Control Bodies' Workers has been established in Belarus and will be celebrated on 2 August. On 9 April the Head of State signed a Decree which introduced a relevant addition to Decree No 157 of the President of Belarus of 26 March 1998 "On State Holidays, Public Holidays and Commemorative Days in the Republic of Belarus".

On the 2nd of August 1994, the Control Service of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus was established. The legal successor of the first presidential control body is the State Control Committee, established in 1996 by the decree of the Head of State.

Today the State Control Committee is the supreme audit institution of the country. The main task of the agency is to ensure economic security of the state, control over the execution of the republican budget and the use of state property. These tasks are specified in the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus.
