Representatives of the State Control Committee took part in the first meeting of the INTOSAI Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals and Key Sustainable Development Indicators


Representatives of the State Control Committee took part in the first meeting of the INTOSAI Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Key Sustainable Development Indicators, which took place via videoconference.
During the meeting, the draft concept of the Working Group, its mission and principles were discussed and approved. The group will work to support the efforts of the INTOSAI community to contribute to the achievement of national goals and SDGs by facilitating the development and use of appropriate key sustainable development indicators and promoting a strategic approach to the activity of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs).
The group members identified the main areas of the group's activities for 2020-2021. It is planned to conduct activities to develop the SAIs capacity to SDGs audit, share knowledge, raise public awareness of the SDGs issues, and use key national indicators as a tool to assess the SDGs implementation at the national level. The group also plans to conduct thematic pilot projects.
Participants discussed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on auditing the SDGs implementation and recognized the need to examine SAIs' approaches to assessing the impact of the COVID-19 crisis and anti-crisis measures on the implementation of the UN Agenda 2030, assessing preparedness for crises, analyzing the consequences and measures for recovery.
In addition, during the meeting, information on the new members of the working group (SAIs of Peru and Turkey) was presented.
