On 5 March 2024, representatives of the State Control Committee of Belarus joined an Online Training Сourse on Cost Auditing for the members of the Economic Co-operation Organization Supreme Audit Institutions (ECOSAI).
The event was organized by the Supreme Audit Court of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In addition to representatives of the State Control Committee of Belarus, the training course was attended by specialists of supreme audit institutions (SAIs) of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey and others.
During the event, presentations were made by experts representing the SAIs of Iran and Pakistan, as well as regional and international organisations in the field of public audit. In particular, the representative of the Iranian SAI informed about the national experience in the development and implementation of methodology for cost audit.
The participants of the training course discussed the benefits of conducting cost audits and shared their experience of using such audits in their countries. The need for cost audits in the public sector was highlighted due to the significant amounts of government subsidies allocated to cover the costs of budget organisations.
Background Information
ECOSAI is a regional forum of supreme audit institutions of the South and Central Asian regions, established in 1994. The current President of ECOSAI is the Supreme Audit Court of Iran.
The SAI of Belarus participates in ECOSAI events as an observer.
