Representatives of the Financial Monitoring Department took part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units of the CIS countries
Representatives of the Financial Monitoring Department of the State Control Committee took part in the 17th meeting of the Council of the Heads of the CIS Financial Intelligence Units (Council), which took place via video conference.
The meeting was chaired by Yuri Chikhanchin, Chairman of the Council, Director of the Federal Service for Financial Monitoring of the Russian Federation. The Republic of Belarus was represented at the meeting by Vyacheslav Reut, Director of the Financial Monitoring Department of the State Control Committee.
The meeting reviewed information on the measures taken in the CIS member states in the field of combating the legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime, the financing of terrorism and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (AML/CFT).
The heads of the financial intelligence units discussed the interim results of projects being implemented within the Council framework, as well as the progress in implementing the decisions of the previous Council meetings. Particular attention was paid to countering new challenges and threats, including in the cryptocurrency area.
The meeting discussed preparations for the final stage of the International Financial Security Olympiad, which will be held in October 2021 in Sochi. Representatives of universities of the International Network AML / CFT Institute from Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will take part in the Olympiad. 10 students of BSU and BSEU - winners of the qualifying round from Belarus, will compete for the victory in the final.
The next 18th Council Meeting is planned to be held in October-November this year in the Russian Federation.
