Supreme Audit Institutions of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan summed up the joint audit


The meeting of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan was held on February 28, 2013 in Moscow. It was chaired by the heads of the SAIs Alexander Yakobson, Sergey Stepashin and Aslan Musin.
At the meeting the auditors of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan considered the results of joint audit concerning the compliance in 2010-2011 of the Agreement on the establishment and application in the Customs Union of the procedure of charging and distributing of import customs duties (other equivalent duties, taxes and fees) by the competent authorities of three countries .
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the responsible ministries and institutions of the countries of Customs Union, the employees of embassies of Kazakhstan and Belarus in Russia. As noted during the meeting it was the first joint audit in this field carried out by the auditors of all three countries of Customs Union. In the future, such audit will be conducted annually. The Parties were unanimous in the assessment of the main results of the audit, which showed the execution on the whole of the procedure of charging and distributing of import customs duties between the states members of the Customs Union.
During the audit some shortcomings were identified in the organization of the charging of import duties in the initial stage of the action of Agreement. Corrective measures have been taken.
Following the meeting the heads of SAIs approved the joint tripartite audit report which sent to the Governments of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and in the Eurasian Economic Commission.
