Representative of the State Control Committee of Belarus took part in the 6th meeting of the INTOSAI Working Group on Key National Indicators


Dmitry Sanko, chief of the Main Analytical Department of the State Control Committee of Belarus took part in the 6th meeting of the INTOSAI Working Group on Key National Indicators (KNI) that was held in Krakow, Poland.
During the meeting, representatives of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) discussed the issues of the development of a White Paper on KNI, methodology for selecting the for use by auditors, application of key national indicators for international comparisons in the context of sustainable development and recommendations, capabilities for KNI use, development of cooperation with international research organizations in the field of measurement and evaluation of progress.
In Krakow the participants of the meeting discussed the actual version of White Paper on KNI and Principles for development and use of Key National Indicators, which are supposed to consider during the 21th INTOSAI Congress in October 2013 in China. The Strategy of the activity of Working Group for 2013-2016 and Working plan for 2013 were approved at the meeting, the list of possible topics of subprojects for 2013-2016 was also discussed.
Nowadays key national indicators are an important tool for the integrated management of development and effective evaluation of the implementation of national strategies. KNI system allows to get an objective assessment of the activities of state bodies in the sphere of the state's economy and to compare the results of such activities with similar indicators in other countries. Researches in this area must help to improve the system of financial control, promote to good governance and improve the living standards.
So, the draft of White Paper on KNI is designed to develop common approaches, methodologies, standards in KNI using for evaluating the effectiveness, efficiency and economy of the socio-economic development strategies. According to the initiators of the project, the White Paper will provide specialists the tools for the preparation and implementation of audits and visualization of their results, and for creation a common information space for audit institutions.
