Delegation of Financial Intelligence of Belarus participated in the FATF Plenary meeting


Representatives of the Financial Monitoring Department of the State Control Committee of Belarus as part of the EAG delegation took part in the Plenary meeting of the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF) . The event took place in Paris on 20-22 February 2013.
The FATF took important new steps to protect the international financial system from abuse by:
adopting new Methodology for Assessing Technical Compliance with the FATF Recommendations and the Effectiveness of AML/CFT Systems;
updating the Guidance on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing Measures and Financial Inclusion;
approving guidance on conducting National Risk Assessment;
discussed the global challenges in supervision and enforcement.
In Paris the director of the Department of Financial Monitoring Alexander Maksimenko took also part in the meeting of the heads of delegations of the EAG member states and discussed the issues related to the holding of the next EAG Plenary meeting and joint activities in the framework of the Eurasian Group.
Belarusian delegation conducted the consultations with delegations of India and Tajikistan on the issues of the signing of bilateral agreements in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
Moreover, A.Maksimenko discussed the issues of further cooperation with the heads of financial intelligence units of Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine .
Also in Paris was held the meeting of heads of financial intelligence units of the CIS countries. Belarus was invited to head the Council of heads of financial intelligence units of the CIS countries.
