Within the framework of the implementation of the Program “Partnership for Good Governance”, realized by the Council of Europe and the European Union, a working meeting with the Council of Europe delegation was held in the State Control Committee. The participants discussed issues of combating money laundering and mechanisms for the effective identification of assets acquired through illegally obtained revenues.
The employees of the Supreme Audit Office of Belarus informed representatives of the Council of Europe on the national instruments of detecting and suppressing crimes in the economic sphere, legal mechanisms for effective arrest, confiscation and management of seized criminal proceeds, as well as the activities of state bodies to recover legalized criminal proceeds.
Following the results of the bilateral meeting, the participants noted the importance of such meetings and expressed interest in further information exchange between the state bodies of the Republic of Belarus and the European Union in order to effectively identify illegally obtained revenues and assets acquired at their expense.
